FAQs Your frequently asked questions about our club and classes. Q: I would like my son/daughter to join your club, do we have to wait til next term? A: No, you can join our club at any time. Fees are issued on a half termly basis and we will adjust your fees accordingly. Q: My son/daughter has never done gymnastics before, what should he/she wear? A: Shorts, Leggings or Joggers (No "Jeggings" - denim leggings) and a T-shirt are fine until a club leotard is purchased. Please note that NO Jewellery is permitted inside the gymnasium. Any hair long enough to be tied back must be tied back securely, no plastic hairbands are permitted inside the gym. The club's coaches reserve the right to turn away anyone who they do not feel is suitably dressed, this includes any denim, big toggles, zips or buttons on clothes. Hoodies are also deemed extremely inappropriate. Q: What if we forget to bring a bottle of water with us to class? A: We provide plastic cups for emergencies only as most classes, unless you are training competitively are only for one hour. We would recommend that parents ensure provision of a drink for every training session their child attends. Q: If we are running late, can my son/daughter still participate? A: If you arrive within the first 10 minutes (5 minutes for S1) of your class, you can still participate. If you arrive any later than 10 minutes (5 minutes for S1) we cannot allow you to join in due to the fact you have missed allocated warm-up time and this could lead to injury. This is for the gymnast's own safety and a final decision by a coach should not be challenged. Q: My son/daughter has a problem which we would not feel comfortable talking to the Head Coach or General Manager about, what should I do? A: We would hope that this type of situation should never arise, however if you would like to speak to someone about an issue in regard to your son/daughter please contact our Welfare Officers, Cathy McArevey or Shadi Ardehali [pronounced Shar-dee Ar-duh-har-lee], who are trained and have undergone British Gymnastics & NSPCC Time to Listen Course and they will help you from there. Contact details will be freely given to anyone who requests them, without question. Their email address is welfare@stalbansgymclub.com |
